Winfried Haas is a German engineer and independent owner-side advisor specialising in major infrastructure renewal and Net Zero investment decisions for institutional real estate.
Drawing on more than three decades of technical experience with extensive executive leadership, energy infrastructure and advisory experience, he helps owners evaluate complex investment pathways before major capital commitments are made — and maintain the integrity of those decisions through implementation and operational performance validation.
Before founding HAAS, he held senior management and executive positions with leading German utilities, Energy Service Companies and international consulting firms. His responsibilities included the development, planning, installation and operation of major energy infrastructure investments, Energy Performance Contracting programmes and complex retrofit projects.
He also served as Lead Consultant for Abu Dhabi’s emirate-wide Demand Side Management Programme, supporting the strategic assessment of more than 30,000 buildings and the identification of large-scale energy efficiency opportunities.
His former work in Energy Performance Contracting received European industry recognition, including the GreenBuilding Partner Award and the European Energy Service Award.
Today, he advises government property owners, sovereign wealth funds, institutional and corporate real estate owners, developers and family offices on major infrastructure renewal and Net Zero investment decisions with long-term implications for capital allocation, asset performance and asset value.
His role is not to replace engineering consultants, asset managers or project teams. It is to provide the independent owner-side perspective that connects their specialist contributions to the investment decision ownership ultimately has to make — and the performance that investment ultimately has to deliver.

HAAS occupies a different position.
We do not design, manufacture, sell or install technical systems. We receive no commissions, vendor referral fees or technology sales incentives.
This allows HAAS to evaluate Investment Pathways, technical proposals and implementation decisions from the perspective of ownership — considering long-term performance, investment efficiency, risk, Net Zero objectives and asset value.

Where appropriate, scenario, sensitivity and probability analyses are used to assess not only expected outcomes, but how robust those outcomes remain under changing future conditions.
